Does anyone know of any potentially negative consequences of utilizing Winclone to effectively increase the size of my windows partition? WHAT IS WINCLONE PRO PRO Is it even necessary for me to use the Winclone utility if I am already planning on backing up my entire windows OS onto an external hard drive? Thanks in advance for anyone who chooses to helpĪlso- When answering these questions, note that I will have already backed up my entire windows OS onto an external hard drive prior to proceeding with the Winclone utility.

I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong section.

I remember reading on another thread that Camptune could possibly be linked to issues of unallocated space when upgrading a Mac OS after using it.
#Winclone vs camptune upgrade
WHAT IS WINCLONE PRO UPGRADEįor example, say I used Camptune to make my windows partition larger, the OP stated that when he then proceeded to upgrade to mavericks, there was unallocated space on his hard drive that was unrecognizable/unusable by both windows and mac os partitions. He then had to restore completely and reinstall both mac os and windows partition after reformatting the HD etc. I subsequently upgraded from Windows XP to Vista and all is functioning great now.I don't know if there is any truth to this or not, but I'm adamantly trying to do this the right way with minimal risk at losing data and what not. Upon a restart (after repairing the disk), I went back into bootcamp and was able to re-create a new empty partion that was larger in size, per the instructions, then restored from my back-up partition with no issues to the larger requested size. Likewise, I was hesitate to follow the recommendation to completely re-format the disk. I don't recall exactly, but I believe I used the Apple Disk Utility simply to 'verify' and 'repair' the Mac-only disk partition (after using bootcamp to remove the PC partition). anyway, it went reasonably smooth, however, I too experienced the issue you're having. so I made an initial backup of the FAT32 partition then a backup of the newly converted version before deleting the main partition). I needed to convert from FAT32 format to NTFS (I believe as a requirement for WinClone to properly work and for the ability to have a larger sized partion.

I used WinClone and made a couple of back-ups to an external drive. My original post "Re: PPC MacMini shuts down immediately after boot, LED blinks" has been archived, so I can't reply with my resolution, anyway. love the dual system (Mac user at heart/Windows for work ?. Since resolving that, all has been great. The electrical short was causing a kernel-panic (or something) and behaviour after startup was erratic. I later discovered that one of the small metal tabs on the bottom was pinched inward and touching another metal component (when snapping the lid back on). Once I got everything back in place, it would startup, then after a few seconds/minutes crash and/or the fan would race (originally thought it was an over-heating problem).

prior to install, I went the additional RAM route (to get to 2GB) and installed myself. I also am running a Mini with Vista (and it's great now). Your comment about the flash drive for RAM is interesting. I've downloaded the CampTune app however, have some backups to do first, so I'll check later to see if you've finished with WinClone and if you recommended it. Would like to hear how your WinClone goes (good luck).
